THE LEGEND OF BEAVER DAM wins Divine Comedy Award at the 1st International Comedy Film Festival
The Canadian short film THE LEGEND OF BEAVER DAM (2010) won the first prize at the 1st International Comedy Award Film Festival in Berlin. The jury consisting of film producer Pamela Cohn, film critic Joachim Kurz and film blogger and presenter Nilz Bokelberg awarded THE LEGEND OF BEAVER DAM with Best Comedy, beating the other 13 feature and short films in the competition.
THE LEGEND OF BEAVER DAM is a 12-minute horror musical by the two Canadians Jerome Sable and Eli Batalion, where a dangerous monster is awakened by a horror story at a campfire and young Danny Zigwitz has to save his friends at the camp from a gory massacre.
The jury justifies their decision as follows: "Never before have we seen such a bold mixture of horror film, comedy and heavy metal-musical. THE LEGEND OF THE BEAVER DAM covered the whole range of human emotions in just 12 minutes - from mortal fear to pure lust for live. The absurd plot turns and outstanding performances make the short film a worthy prize winner of the 1st International Comedy Film Festival."
A Special Mention was given to the outstanding performance of the young actress Sea Kumada in SCABBARD SAMURAI.
