Short synopsis:

Ronal is a Barbarian, but he has nothing in common with a fearless warrior bursting with muscles. Not only does his slender body set him apart from his fellow Barbarians, he also despises adventures and battles. After a surprise attack by the troops of the evil Lord Volcazar all Barbarians are being captured and abducted – except for Ronal. Now, he is the only one who can rescue his tribe and must carry the heavy weight of his deceased father, the tribe’s hero, on his shoulders.  Reluctantly, he jumps into the much hated adventure. By his side: a hormone-driven bard, a useless tour guide and a fearless, but short-tempered female warrior.

Why this comedy matters:
RONAL BARBAREN is a true fantasy spoof, which references CONAN THE BARBARIAN and especially the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy. On the meta level, the traditional gender roles of the genre are being questioned in a witty and intelligent way. Even if the humor seems slightly immature at times, RONAL BARBAREN is hilarious and probably the only animated comedy depicting primary sexual characteristics on the big screen in glorious 3D.

RONALBARBARIAN_directors-fertigDirectors K. Andersen, P. Lipski, T. Christoffersen:
"The inspiration for our fantasy comedy came from a photo of American heavy metal band MANOWAR from 1981. The combination of typical Disney narratives with our own imagination results in a fantasy world where everyone is welcome."

The three Danes Philip Einstein Lipski, Thorbjørn Christoffersen and Kresten Vestbjerg Andersen have a background in advertising, web design and animated film. They worked together on the successful animated features TERKEL IN TROUBLE (2004) and JOURNEY TO SATURN (2008) before they founded the production company Einstein Film in 2009.
