Short synopsis:

Two Russian ghosts, who just passed away, are already sick of spending their days in limbo. To become part of the living again, they must go on a pilgrimage and follow the Way of St. James to the ‘end of the Earth’. On their way through the Galician landscape to Finisterre, the two white-robed figures and their horse get into surreal situations and experience unexpected encounters – from talking animals and Catalonian video art of the 80s to an extremely unreliable guide in white rubber boots. 

Why this comedy matters:
FINISTERRAE takes us into a surreal fantasy world full of strange characters and situations. The hilarious road movie is accompanied by gorgeous images by cinematographer Eduard Grau, who also worked on Tom Ford's A SINGLE MAN. Even if you don't recognize the references to Philippe Garrel’s classic THE INNER SCAR (1972), FINISTERRAE is absolutely worth watching solely for its unique and captivating humor.
