Short synopsis:
In economically booming China, a chemistry manufacturer has no consideration for local farmers, a talented opera singer tries to make ends meet by busking on the streets, and the head of psychiatry cares more about generating medical success stories than about the patients. Crisis manager Mr. Li steps right into the middle of this cynical world. He wants to transform the problems of modern day China into opportunities (for himself and for his clients). Mr. Li masterfully connects scenes and protagonists of different crisis situations and uses the newly created dynamics for his unconventional problem solutions, thereby turning every catastrophe into a win win situation in no time.
Why this comedy matters: The desire of the Chinese to take part in the rapid economical development cultivates grotesque, egocentric behavior on an interpersonal level. Factory owners contaminate farm lands and use the profits to import milk for their families – as the local product has become inedible. Disguised as an entertaining story, CRISIS MANAGEMENT gives us more insight into the new realities of China than censors of the country can possibly like.
DirectorPan Jingcheng:
"The desire for wealth is destroying the ethical standard of the country. Fake things are in every corner of Chinese daily life. Living in a world with fakes and lies around being believed as a growing economical giant is a plain joke."
Pan Jingcheng completed his film directing studies at the Central Academy of Drama in Peking in 1998. Since then, he has been directing TV shows as well as digital feature films. His work is shown on national TV channel CCTV, on local TV stations in Peking and at film festivals. He has received numerous awards – for example five 'Lily Awards' for Best Film, which are awarded by the ministry of culture.
